Jerry Brewer

Jerry is an award-winning national sports columnist at The Washington Post, based in Seattle. Before joining the Post in 2015, he was a columnist at The Seattle Times for nine years. He is respected for his thoughtful, nuanced opinions and his knack for writing about people and exploring the human condition.

KD Hall is a local powerhouse in communication, storytelling, filmmaking, higher education, and
women’s leadership advocacy. In 2024, the six-time Emmy-nominated executive producer and independent filmmaker independently launched her acclaimed talk show, Conversations with KD Hall. The series — now expanded into 10 impactful episodes — highlights timely social issues, celebrates community leaders, and reinforces KD’s natural gift for insightful, empowering dialogue. In addition to serving on SABJ's board, KD is a Seattle Film Commissioner, a Board Governor and Scholarship Chair for NATAS NW, and a Seattle Sports Commissioner.
Liz Brazile

Liz is an award-winning journalist and editor at KUOW, Puget Sound’s largest NPR affiliate station. She joined the Seattle Association of Black Journalists in 2019 and has served several board terms since then. Liz originally hails from Cincinnati, where she was an active member of the Greater Cincinnati Association of Black Journalists and worked at WLWT-TV and The Cincinnati Herald. Throughout her time in the Pacific Northwest, Liz has also worked for Cascade PBS and YES! Magazine.
Tyrah Majors

Tyrah is a journalist, content creator, Seattle University adjunct professor and author of children's book "Grammy and Me." Currently, she is an Anchor/Reporter for the weekday morning newscasts on KOMO -TV from 4:30 a.m. to 7 a.m. She also produces and hosts a franchise, "Hometown Connections" and hosts entertainment segments on ‘Seattle Refined.’ Prior to joining the KOMO team she was a morning news reporter at CBS/FOX Bakersfield. Her love for the business immersed in jobs at NBC 4 Los Angeles, NBC 7 San Diego, FOX 5 San Diego, and a few entertainment news outlets. She holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism from California State University, Fullerton, and a Master of Science degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California. She also created a talk show, "Major Moves with Tyrah Majors," highlighting millennial entrepreneurs.

Since moving to Seattle in 1993, Percy has been one of the most trusted voices in the Seattle sports scene. Allen, a former SABJ president from 1999 to 2001, is currently a Washington Huskies and Seattle Storm reporter for The Seattle Times.

In a distinguished 43-year journalism career, Essex became best known for his coverage of government and politics for KIRO TV. He began his broadcast career at KLMS Radio in Lincoln, Nebraska, then served as a television reporter at KETV in Omaha, and KATU in Portland, Ore., before joining KIRO.
